Journal #31: The Road to Launch
Hello all,
Happy September! It’s an exceptionally busy but equally exciting time at the studio. There are only a couple of months left until November, when Rise of the Tomb Raider launches on Xbox One and Xbox 360. The Lara Croft universe is also full of exciting new offerings, including Lara Croft GO, a new Lara Croft comic from Dark Horse, and fresh updates for Relic Run. Read on for more info on all things Tomb Raider and Lara Croft.
The Road to Rise of the Tomb Raider
We’ve stayed busy since E3, with dozens of new Rise-related announcements over the past few months. Check out the highlights below.

E3 Community Ambassadors: Our E3 Community Ambassadors did a fantastic job of providing global coverage from the show, as well as continued reporting after E3 concluded. Read their community bogs on Tumblr, each diving deep into a unique facet of Rise of the Tomb Raider’s development.
Limited Edition Posters: At SDCC we announced a series of limited edition Rise of the Tomb Raider posters. Created in collaboration with Xbox and four unique artists, each celebrates a pillar of play in Rise of the Tomb Raider. The first was illustrated by comic book artist Geoff Darrow, and focused on the theme of woman vs wild. The second poster highlighted tombs, and was designed by the award-winning London studio La Boca. Two are still to come, from graphic artist Frank Kozik and poster artist Tara McPherson.
Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC and PS4: In August Square Enix announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be available for Steam and Windows 10 in early 2016, and PlayStation 4 for Holiday 2016. More details on the blog.
Gamespot Features: Gamespot featured a series of in-depth looks at Rise of the Tomb Raider during Gamescom, detailing player choice in combat, our bigger and more challenging tombs, and the myths at the heart of the game.
The Prophet’s Tomb [Video]: Speaking of Tombs – you don’t want to miss this video. Setting the stage for her Siberian adventure, Lara Croft travels to Syria, following a thread that she believes leads to a prophet’s tomb. Filled with deadly traps, puzzles, and a ruthless shadow organization only steps behind, Lara must use all her skills to survive.
Preorders: Preorder offerings have started going live with retailers around the world. Read more about them and get a first peek at “card packs” on the blog.
Collector’s Edition: Our newly revealed Collector’s Edition is an incredible offering for Tomb Raider fans. Included is a full retail copy of Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox One, a 12” statue of Lara Croft, a collectible steelbook, a leather replica of Lara’s in-game journal, and a model of Lara’s pendant.
